What are the chances of my Home Based Business succeeding?

The answer to this question can be a little difficult, in that, people have different ideas of 'success'. If you are like the majority of people who decide to 'try their hand' at a Home Based Business and your motivation is simply to 'work from home' and make a living equal to what you have been or could be making in the more conventional business and job market, then obviously, you stand a better chance than someone who wants their Home Based Business to literally "change their life" from a financial point of view. It is more likely that you will succeed in you chosen Home based Business if your goals are more reasonable. That's not to say that people don't become millionaires (or at least very well off) through Home Based Businesses, but there are far more people who are able to turn their Home Based Business into a steady, reliable income equivalent to what they might earn the 'real world'. Of course, when we say 'real world' we mean as opposed to the Internet, or Virtual World.

There are also many people who make quite tidy sums running their Home Based Business as a 'Part-Time' income supplemental arrangement. A number of 'work from home' mums are assisting their families financially by setting up an Internet Home Based Business and are succeeding in making life far easier with only a few of hours work per week. This may be what you're wanting to do. Very much about the success of a Home Based Business depends on what you need from your specific Home Based Business and what you're willing to put into it.

There is so much advice that could be given and, indeed, much of it is given in "The Affiliate Guide Book", but what we can do here is highlight a couple of the most important issue. That is first and foremost, don't waste your time and money on 'scams' and 'questionable' Home Based Business Opportunities. There's so much to look for but by far the most important is:

• Firstly, be careful! There are a lot of 'scams' around masquerading as legitimate Home Based Business Opportunities. They are designed for one purpose and that is to get people, who have a dream or goal, to part with their money. They will promise the world and actually give nothing in terms of a viable Home Based Business Opportunity. There is no way to name them or to advise all of the things to look for, but we can advise that there is nothing wrong or unusual about sending an email to the people offering the Home Based Business and asking them to outline what type of Home Based Business it is, what's involved and what the expected rewards are likely to be (in fact, if they do 'guarantee' this sort of thing, the chances are there is a scam of sorts going on. Of course, there is no way anyone can guarantee a given income or reward from any specific Business opportunity, but we find that an enquiry like this is usually ignored by the 'scammers' or you will get an answer that simply contains 'double talk'. Basically, the idea is to ask questions, let them know you are a real person and you will be asking questions when you want an answer. This is the way to start with a Home Based Business that you have no idea about or haven't received some sort of recommendation for.

• Secondly, don't get involved in any Home Based Business that requires you to outlay money for a 'starter kit' or 'license to resell' etc where you aren't completely familiar with the product and how well it sells. You have to have an idea of how much you can expect to receive for your outlay before you determine if the outlay itself is worthwhile. The mistake a lot of people make is to accept the 'sales pitch' on a given website as 'gospel' and then part with a some of money only to find that they have bought a 'kit' or 'license' that they don't have any idea how to market, if indeed it is marketable at all. We have found that those Home Based Business Opportunities, which require an initial sizeable outlay and no ongoing commissions often mean that you will receive no further assistance after you have parted with your money because there's nothing in it for them. It's always a much better proposition to go for a Home Based Business where your performance in selling a product will also bring further income to the principal. That way, they have a vested interest in firstly, making sure you have all you need to do the job in tools and information and secondly, they will be ready and willing to assist you with any advice you need to get your Home Based Business off the ground.
